Event Overview

The Web Olympiad is the competitive event designed for high school students who are highly passionate about web development. This event does not covers very complex topics rather than web terminologies and concepts you are reading as part of your coursework. It will test the participants on their knowledge of HTML, CSS, JS, PHP, SQL, along with their ability to design creative and functional pages.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Open to students in Grade 9-12 or gap-year students (not enrolled in undergraduate programs).
  • Participants should have a basic understanding of web technologies, front-end and back-end development.

Round Structure

 Round 1: Multiple-Choice Questions (25%)

  • 25 MCQs with multiple correct answers.
  • Topics include HTML, CSS, JavaScript, basic SQL, and internet protocols.

 Round 2: Debugging & Logical Reasoning (35%)

  • Participants will analyze and fix faulty web code.
  • Includes logical and subjective questions to assess deeper understanding.
  • Focus on server-side scripting and database handling.

Round 3: Practical Design Implementation (40%)

  • Competitors will replicate two given design models.
  • Evaluated design accuracy, responsiveness, and functionality.

Each task carries 20% of the total score

Rules and Regulations

 

  1. Only students from Grades 9-12 or gap-year students (not enrolled in undergraduate programs) are eligible.
  2. Cheating or plagiarism will result in immediate disqualification.
  3. Entry fees are non-refundable.
  4. Participants should bring their own laptops if required.
  5. Collaboration is allowed only where specified; otherwise, individual effort is mandatory.

Syllabus:

  • HTML, CSS, and JS fundamentals
  • Basic SQL for database management
  • PHP for server site scripting
  • Internet protocols, domains, servers, and hosting
